Tournament Rules & NTC Bids

Tournament Rules

  1. Entry Fee is $40 per boat including a big fish pot. (pay when you weigh)

  2. At least 1 angler in the boat must be a member of the SMWC. Guests may fish in a tournament once without a membership, but to fish in a second tournament, they must join the club and pay their dues.

  3. Register for the tournament by simply letting us know you are fishing. (fill out the online form, send an email, FB message, text, or phone call) We also need to know if you have any anglers 16 years old or younger for the youth division.

  4. Registration closes at 7:00 p.m. the night before the tournament. (finalized roster will be posted shortly after)

  5. In the event of inclement weather , the tournament director will make a decision by 7:00 p.m. the night before with the help of the Board of Directors.

  6. If you are registered for the tournament at 7:00 p.m. the night before, you have COMMITTED to paying your boats entry fee. Even if you don't launch your boat, you still have to come pay us your entry fee to be in good standing with the club and fish in future club events. If you need to cancel, you MUST cancel BEFORE the registration closing deadline of 7:00 p.m.

  7. Morning tournaments: LINES IN at 7:00 a.m. You can launch whenever you want and run to your spot but NO FISHING until 7:00 a.m. You have to be back to the designated boat launch BY BOAT no later than 3:00 p.m.

  8. Afternoon Tournaments: LINES IN at 12 Noon. You can launch whenever you want and run to your spot but NO FISHING until 12 noon. You have to be back to the designated boat launch BY BOAT no later than 8:00 p.m.

  9. There is a 6 rod limit, regardless of the number anglers on the boat.

  10. Bring your tournament entry fee (and registration dues if needed) to the scale with your 5 best walleye. Even if you zero, we need you to stop at the scale to pay. This lets us know you are back off the water safely. If you need to leave early, please let someone know and make arrangements for you entry fee.

  11. Payout! We will be awarding CASH to the 1st, 2nd, & 3rd Place YOUTH ANGLERS. And as always, we pay one Big Fish winner and 1st, 2nd, 3rd place boats overall.

NTC Bid Awarding

  1. First Priority for bids will be to SMWC members that have registered with The Walleye Federation by May 1st of each tournament year. Register Here

  2. Bids will be awarded based on end of year AOY standings for those that registered by May 1st.

  3. If a tie occurs, total season weight will be used, unless the tie is unbreakable.


*NTC Side Pot Tournaments will be discussed after May1st by the SMWC members who joined The Walleye Federation*

(this group of individuals will decide if and when the club will host a side pot during our regular schedule, along with the board and officers)

SMWC Championship

  1. NO entry fee! This is a bragging rights shootout tournament with trophies for the Adult and Youth Winners

  2. To QUALIFY: all individuals that have fished in at least 4 club tournament during the current season will be invited.

  3. You must register your boat, captain, and anglers the Saturday before the tournament by 7:00p.m.

  4. This tournament will be on a Saturday, have no boundaries and will take-off from Conley Point Boat Launch in Barbeau.

  5. The tournament director will perform live well checks at the launch and give you your boat number. Boat numbers will be awarded based on the Registered Captain's AOY standings for the season.

  6. There will not be a shotgun start; however boats will take off 1 at a time with boat #1 leading off (highest AOY captain), followed by boat #2, etc....

  7. Tournament hours are TBD but currently proposed 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  8. Weigh-in will begin at 4:15 p.m.
